Shoes on the Move Kicks off 2011 by encouraging Women to Become their Personal Best

Oh what a day! Shoes on the Move held its first monthly meeting of 2011 today with 98 ladies in attendance. Debbie and I were so excited to see our friends and some new faces. We believe this is YOUR year to shine and we intend to do everything we can to help you fulfill God’s plan for your life.

We kicked the meeting off with lunch. Soup and Salad was served as we all fellowshipped together. An array of door prizes was given away. Nancy Graham won the ultimate gift, an Aveda Mani/Pedi at Face the Day Spa.

Following a wonderful time of sharing, which I’ll give details on later, we went into the sanctuary of Grand View Church for our meeting. Debbie encouraged everyone to become their personal best this year, while staying focused on what God has put in their hearts.

Debbie and I have been planning break-out sessions, which will kick-off in our February 26 meeting. Six sessions are planned: Prayer with Barbara Michael; Movin’ On with Sylvia McCullars; Health & Wellness with Sandie Parnell; Public Speaking with Debbie; Growing in Vision with Veronica Dixon; and I will lead a session on Ministry Outreach.

Barbara, Sandie, and Sylvia shared about their topics and the ladies were asked to sign up for the session they were most interested in. More sessions will be added throughout the year.

2011 will be a year of opportunities for everyone to grow in Christ, and put their gifts and calling into action. The Gospel is not a matter of talk, but of doing. This will not only be a year of change for all of us, but a year when God will use us to advance the kingdom of God all around us.

Please share your thoughts and comments below. Shoes on the Move is all about you. Debbie and I want to make sure that we are giving you all that you need to be successful in this life.

If you happen to miss the meeting, go to www.grandvc.org and watch it online.

We love you dearly! Debbie and Charlana

  1. Hi Ladies! Yes, I think this coming year in SOTM is going to be a great one, and I believe the ministry there will be enlightening, empowering, and....FUN!

As for the topic/group that I'll be leading on wellness, I think education about our bodies will be a major key for many of the women to get a breakthrough towards their wellness goals. I have noticed that the more I learn about my body and how it operates, the more I want to take care of it. We tend to take our bodies for granted until something goes wrong with it, but our bodies are an AWESOME creation that originated in the mind of God which He then made a way to be replicated over and over again by natural birth!

For instance, did you know that our blood travels about 50 miles a day, flowing at a rate of up to 3 feet per second, through approximately 60,000 MILES of blood vessels? This results in your heart pumping about 4,000 gallons of blood each day! (Got that little tidbit from Lake County Healthy Living Magazine, January, 2011, volume 4 issue 1.)

Just think about that! God created 60,000 MILES!! of blood vessels in our bodies! And oh how we take our little hearts for granted to pump all that stuff each and every day. I think that's amazing. And it does all that without our even thinking about it.

We're going to learn a lot about our bodies, what nourishes them and what depletes them, what potentially lengthens our life and what could shorten it, and learn how the physical is so intricately intertwined with the other two parts of us--the spirit and the soul, or the mind.

Ladies, don't forget to post or email your questions ahead of time to SOTM, so that we can have answers for you at the next meeting's panel session. Til then, 3 John 2.

    Sandie Parnell
